Sceptical staff at the York Dungeon aim to prove once and for all that there's nothing unlucky about Friday the 13th. The experiement will begin the moment visitors walk into the Dungeons - under a huge ladder, past a set of upside down horseshoes and accros the path of a black cat. Once inside people will be asked to join the staff for a mass indoor umberella opening before witnessing the spilling of a giant barrel of salt.

York Dungeon to Star on New York Monopoly Board
Some terrifyingly good news from York Dungeon:
The city landmark is to feature on a brand new and official MONOPOLY: York board, it was announced on the 21st of May.
A spokesperson for the game’s makers Winning Moves UK reveals York Dungeon is the FIRST York landmark to be formally announced. And Winning Moves Commercial Director Mark Marriott adds that “more landmarks will be revealed within the next few weeks - and they are all jewels in York’s crown”.
Krissi Neal from York Dungeon says:
“The York Dungeon specialises in bringing York’s most horrible history back to life, so we are very proud to be on a prominent site on the MONOPOLY York board.
The city has many attractions delivering a high standard of experience to visitors, so we are delighted to have been selected to take part.
Players will need to watch out for the Dungeon’s very own customised Community Chest cards however – there’s worse things than not ‘Passing GO’ now the York Dungeon is involved!”
The MONOPOLY: York Edition will hit the High Street and virtual shop shelves later this year (October / early November 2010), in time for Christmas.

York’s scariest attraction just got scarier as the York Dungeon launches its most shocking show to date.
Witches: Burned Alive! Sees the attraction at its most shocking yet, as using state of the art fire and smoke effects the Dungeon burns a witch to the bone before the eyes of petrified visitors, sparing no gruesome graphic detail.
The hellish show transports visitors back to one of the most horrific passages in history; ‘the Burning Times’ of the 16th and 17th centuries when an estimated 200,000 people were condemned for witchcraft. After suffering shambolic show trials where the guilt of the accused had in many cases been pre-determined, hundreds of victims were condemned to burn alive at the stake.
